Replica is not available

Published : April 8, 2005 | Updated : August 17, 2005

Summary

This alert is generated when DPM cannot detect the volume on which the specified replica is stored. All subsequent protection activities that rely on this volume will fail until the volume can be detected or the replica is re-created on a new volume.

Causes

A volume in the DPM storage pool has been reconfigured or deleted by using an external disk management tool such as Windows Disk Management.

Resolutions

In the Protection task area, check the status of the replica. If the replica has “Replica missing” status, re-create the replica by using the Review Pending Members action. For more information, see How to review pending members.

When you perform the task, DPM allocates disk space for the affected protection group members on a new volume, re-creates the replica, and performs a consistency check. Scheduled synchronization and shadow copies jobs will resume.

Note

Shadow copies that were stored on the missing volume are no longer available.
