Consistency check in progress
Published : April 8, 2005 | Updated : August 17, 2005
Summary
This alert is generated when a consistency check is in progress for the specified replica. A consistency check is the process by which Data Protection Manager (DPM) checks for and corrects inconsistencies between a protected volume and its replica. After initial replication, DPM initiates a consistency check only when normal mechanisms for recording changes to protected volumes and for applying those changes to replicas have been interrupted.
Causes
A consistency check is required when any of the following events occur:
A new replica is created as part of the process of creating a protection group
Members are added to an existing protection group
The synchronization log has run out of disk space
The file server was unexpectedly shut down.
DPM automatically initiates a consistency check when a replica is created or when members are added to an existing protection group. To ensure that a replica stays consistent with its data source, you can schedule a daily consistency check. If you do not schedule a daily consistency check, you must manually perform a consistency check when a replica becomes inconsistent. DPM generates a “replica is inconsistent” alert so you will know when a manual consistency check is required.
Resolutions
This alert is for your information only, and no action is required.
To check the current status of the consistency check, review the alert details in the Monitoring task area.
To check the status of a replica creation job, review the job details in the Monitoring task area.
