Applies to: Forefront Protection for Exchange

After installing Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE), administrators can configure FPE by launching the Forefront Management Shell or the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Administrator Console user interface.

To launch the Forefront Management Shell

  • Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Forefront Server Protection, and then click Forefront Management Shell.

To launch the Administrator Console user interface

  • Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Forefront Server Protection, and then click Forefront Protection for Exchange Server Console.

Important

It is recommended that you close the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Administrator Console user interface before performing any configuration changes by entering Windows PowerShell commands in the Forefront Management Shell. Otherwise, you risk inadvertently overwriting configuration changes because you are simultaneously working in multiple environments.
