How to Specify the Reporting Server for VMM

Applies To: Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1

Use the following procedure to enable reporting in Virtual Machine Manager after you deploy System Center Operations Manager 2007 SP1 or System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, set up your reporting server, and import the System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 Management Pack and the System Center Virtualization Reports 2008 R2 Management Pack. Until you perform this procedure, Reporting view does not display in the VMM Administrator Console.

To view and open reports in Reporting view, you also must be added to the Report Operators role in Operations Manager. For an end-to-end procedure for setting up reporting, see Setting Up Reporting in VMM.

To enable reporting in Virtual Machine Manager

  1. In Administration view, in the navigation pane, click System Center, and then, in the results pane, click Operations Manager Reporting URL.

  2. In the Actions pane, under Settings, click Modify.

  3. To enable reporting, in the Reporting Settings dialog box:

    1. Select the Enable reporting check box.

    2. Specify the URL for the Operations Manager report server in the format http[s]://<OpsMgrReportServer>[:<port>]/<ReportServer>, where:

      • <OpsMgrReportServer> is the computer name of your report server, and

      • <ReportServer> is the name of the report server virtual directory (by default, “ReportServer”)

  4. Click OK to have VMM check for a valid report server and then save the settings.

Reporting view is added to the VMM Administrator Console.
