Understanding the Windows SharePoint Services Management Pack

適用於: Operations Manager 2007, Operations Manager 2007 R2, SharePoint Services

The Windows SharePoint Services Management Pack is used with other Management Packs such as Internet Information Services, SQL Server, and Windows Server. For example a line-of-business application might be composed of one or more Windows SharePoint Portal Services application components, Internet Information Services Web sites, SQL Server databases, and Windows logical hardware components.

The Internet Information Services Management Pack discovers and monitors the Web sites. The SQL Server Management Pack discovers and monitors the Windows SharePoint Services-related databases. Windows SharePoint Services Management Pack discovers and monitors the Windows SharePoint application components. The Windows Server Management Pack monitors the health of the processors, memory, disks, and network adapters that all the line-of-business application components depend on.

You can use the Distributed Application Designer to correlate and roll up the health state of each component to become the overall health state of your line-of-business application. In the Distributed Application Designer, you can define the components that make up a line-of-business application and their dependencies and relationships. For information about using the Distributed Application Designer and the Windows SharePoint Services Farm template, see the topic "How to Create a Distributed Application Service" in online Help.
