Enable IPv6 Remote Access

Applies To: Windows Server 2008 R2

By default, RRAS is configured to accept Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) connections only. Use this procedure to configure RRAS to add support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) connections.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To enable IPv6 connections

  1. Open the RRAS MMC Snap-in.

  2. Right-click Your Server Name, and then click Properties. If you are using Server Manager, right-click Routing and Remote Access, and then click Properties.

  3. On the General tab, click IPv6 Router or IPv6 Remote access server, or both, depending on your requirements.

  4. If you are configuring remote access for IPv6, on the IPv6 tab, type the IPv6 prefix that is to be assigned to incoming IPv6 remote clients (for example: 2001:1234:5678:90ab::).

  5. Click OK, and then click Yes to restart RRAS.
