Office Communications Server 2007 R2 的其中一項變更是，管理工具不會自動安裝在每個伺服器上。您必須計劃在哪些伺服器和工作站上安裝管理工具。您在之後的移轉過程中，將需要使用這些移轉工具，設定新系統和移動使用者。

一般來說，您必須使用對應到想要管理之伺服器版本的系統管理嵌入式管理單元。唯一的例外是，您會使用 Office Communications Server 2007 R2 嵌入式管理單元，將使用者從 Office Communications Server 2007 移到 Office Communications Server 2007 R2。

您也可以在 Office Communications Server 2007 上，或是在已安裝 Office Communications Server 2007 嵌入式管理單元的電腦上，使用 Active Directory 使用者及電腦。

附註：
Office Communications Server 2007 系統管理嵌入式管理單元和 Office Communications Server 2007 R2 系統管理嵌入式管理單元不能安裝在同一部電腦上。
