Primary virtual IP address must be modified

Applies To: Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG)

Virtual IP addresses are used when load balancing traffic from a network. When you configure virtual IP addresses for a network, they are added to the network adapter associated with the network on all array members.

.

Cause

Before modifying the primary virtual IP address, you must remove any additional virtual IP addresses that are configured. Failure to do so may cause IP address conflicts that are difficult to troubleshoot.

Solution

  1. Right-click the network for which you want to modify the primary virtual IP address, and click Properties.

  2. Select the NLB tab.

  3. In the Additional VIPs list, select the first virtual IP address in the list, then click Remove.

  4. Repeat for other additional virtual IP addresses in the list until the list is empty. Then click Apply.

  5. Modify the primary virtual IP, then click Apply.

  6. Click the Apply button in the Apply Changes bar to save the configuration changes. Wait a few minutes for the configuration changes to propagate.

  7. On the NLB tab, reconfigure any additional virtual IP addresses, then click OK.

  8. Click the Apply button in the Apply Changes bar to save the configuration changes.
