Summary: Server limitations must be taken into account during the installation and operation of the Audit and Control Management Server 2013.
When planning your installation and implementation of Audit and Control Management Server, make yourself familiar with various server limits. This table gives the specific ranges and limitations, including system and site limits, and folder and path requirements.
Server limits
Feature | Description | Minimum limit | Maximum limit | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Central Administrators |
The total combined number of users and groups that can be Central Administrators within a single ACM Server system. |
0 |
20 |
|
Number of Sites |
The maximum number of sites that can be created within a single ACM Server system, which is the set of ACM Server components that are associated with any single ACM Server back-end database. |
1 |
10 |
|
Site Name |
The length (number of characters) of a given site name. |
1 |
55 |
|
Site Administrators |
The total combined number of users and groups that can be Site Administrators within a site. Use groups to enable more than 10 users to be Site Administrators. |
1 |
10 |
|
Monitored UNC folders per site |
The number of "UNC" folders that can be configured within a site. |
0 |
200 |
This limit will help avoid overloading the processors, in particular the network share file processor. The operating system will limit the amount of actively watched connections that can be instantiated from one machine to any given file server. Exceeding this limit is not recommended, so limiting the number of monitored folders per site will help avoid this situation. |
UNC paths per processor alias |
The number of "UNC" folders that can be assigned to any given file processor alias in a site. |
0 |
40 |
File processor services that run on the ACM Server are associated with a specific file processor alias. This limits the number of UNC folders that any given file processor service can be assigned to monitor. |
HTTP paths per site |
The number of "HTTP" folders that can be configured within a site. |
0 |
200 |
|
HTTP paths per file processor alias |
The number of "UNC" folders that can be assigned to any given file processor alias in a site. |
0 |
80 |
File processor services that run on the ACM Server are associated with a specific file processor alias. This limits the number of HTTP folders that any given file processor service can be assigned to monitor. |
File Path Length |
The length of the UNC path or HTTP path (combination of site URL, document library and folder path) that can be entered as the location to monitor in the folder properties page. |
Must be a valid UNC path |
260 |
|
Folder managers |
The total combined number of users and groups that can be assigned as a Folder Manager for any given folder. |
0 |
10 |
|
Folder viewers |
The total combined number of users and groups that can be assigned as a Folder Viewer for any given folder. |

Must be a valid UNC path |
180 |
|
Last saved by length |
The length of the string that contains the identity of the user or users who changed a monitored file. |
0 |
255 |
Maximum length allowable in the database is 255 characters. The maximum allowable by Excel in the Username field is 52 characters (Excel UI restriction). If multiple people edit a file, then ACM Server can record more than 1 username. So, the length could need to increase beyond 52 characters. If it goes beyond 255, an error is listed in the processing folder and the site Event Log. |
Processor Alias length |
The length of a string specified as a file processor alias. |
1 |

|
Raw data sheets per monitored folder |
The number of entries that can be added to the list of Raw Data Worksheets for any given monitored folder. |
