Azure

Microsoft Azure is an open and flexible cloud platform that enables you to quickly build, deploy, and manage applications across a global network of Microsoft-managed datacenters. You can build applications by using any language, tool, or framework. And you can integrate your public cloud applications with your existing IT environment.

Azure Virtual Machines

With Azure, you can easily bring your own customized Windows Server or Linux images or select them from a gallery. Retain full control of your images and maintain them as required by your organization. Azure also helps to migrate your applications and infrastructure without changing existing code, making it faster to move SharePoint, SQL Server, or Active Directory Domain Services to the cloud—saving you time and money.

For more information about Virtual Machines, see Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Services.

Azure Virtual Network

Virtual Network lets you provision and manage virtual private networks in Azure as well as securely link these with on-premises IT infrastructure. With Virtual Network, IT administrators can extend on-premises networks into the cloud with control over network topology, including configuration of DNS and IP address ranges for virtual machines.

For more information about Virtual Networks, see Microsoft Azure Networking.

Azure Traffic Manager

Traffic Manager enables you to control the distribution of user traffic to Azure-hosted services. Traffic Manager works by applying an intelligent policy engine to the DNS queries on your main organization domain name. Update the DNS resource records that your organization owns to point to the Traffic Manager domain. Traffic Manager policies that are attached to those domains then resolve DNS queries on your main organization domain name to the IP addresses of specific Azure-hosted services that are contained in the Traffic Manager policies.

For more information about using Traffic Manager, see Azure Traffic Manager Overview.
