Creating and Editing Views

適用於: System Center Operations Manager 2007

Views in an Operations Manager 2007 management pack can be created and edited in the Authoring console, but only minimal user interface is available for this task. All the configurations must be performed with an XML editor which requires you to have detailed knowledge of the XML structure of the view.

The Operations console provides a complete user interface for creating and editing views that requires no knowledge of XML. The sections on each kind of view discuss the features that cannot be configured by using the Operations console. However, the features provided by this console will be sufficient for most any view. The most significant feature that the Operations console will not allow is providing a name for the view.

The basic process that is used for creating views is as follows:

  1. Create the view in the Authoring console.

By using the Authoring console to create the view, you can give it a descriptive ID instead of one that contains a GUID that would be generated by the Operations console.

  2. Install the management pack into a management group.

By installing the management pack, you can use the Operations console to perform configuration of the view.

  3. Configure the view

With the management pack installed, you can use a dialog box for each kind of view in the Operations console to perform most configurations for each kind of view.

  4. Load the management pack into the Authoring console.

As soon as the view is configured, you can load the management pack back into the Authoring console to continue to work with it.

Each procedure in this section follows this basic procedure for creating and configuring different kinds of views.
