How to Create a Performance View

The following procedure shows how to create a performance view in the Operations Manager 2007 Authoring console and then configure the view by using both the Authoring console and the Operations console. Before you perform this procedure, you must complete the following prerequisite procedures:
How to Create a Class - Create classes that will serve as the target of the report.
How to create a WMI performance collection rule – Create one of the collection rules used by the performance chart.
How to create a script-based performance collection rule - Create one of the collection rules used by the performance chart.
The view created in this procedure has the following characteristics:
Includes performance data from instances of the My Computer Role 1 class.
Displays counters from the following rules:
My Application Collect Script Performance
My Application Collect WMI Performance
To create performance view
In the Authoring console, select Presentation, and then select Views.
Expand Microsoft.SystemCenter.Monitoring.ViewFolder.Root.
Right-click MyMP.Folder.Top, select New, and then select Performance View.
On the General tab, do the following:
In the Element ID box, select MyMP.View.MyPerformance.
In the Display Name box, type My Performance. Click OK.
In the Target box, select MyMP.MyComputerRole1.
In the Category box, select PerformanceCollection.
Click Finish.
Right-click MyMP.View.MyPerformance and select Properties.
On the Folder tab, do the following:
Click to clear Microsoft.SystemCenter.Monitoring.ViewFolder.Root.
Select MyMP.Folder.Top.
Click OK.
Select File, and then click Save.
To install the management pack
In the Authoring console, select the Tools menu, and then select Export MP to Management Group.
Select the management group.
Click Connect.
To modify the view in the Operations console
In the Operations console, select Monitoring.
Expand the My Management Pack folder.
Right-click My Performance, and then select Properties.
On the Criteria tab, do the following:
Select collected by specific rules.
In the Criteria description box, click specific.
Select My Application Collect Script Performance and My Application Collect WMI Performance, and then click OK.
Click OK.
To modify the view in the Authoring console
In the Authoring console, select the Tools menu, and then select Import MP from Management Group.
Select the management group.
In the Import from Management Group dialog box, select MyMP and then click Import.
Select Presentation, and then select Views.
Expand the Microsoft.SystemCenter.Monitoring.ViewFolder.Root folder.
Expand the MyMP.Folder.Top folder.
Right-click MyMP.View.MyPerformance, and then select Properties.
On the Configuration tab, do the following:
Next to one Rule element, replace the GUID with $MPElement[Name='MyMP.Rule.CollectScriptPerformance']$.
Next to the other Rule element, replace the GUID with $MPElement[Name='MyMP.Rule.CollectWMIPerformance']$.
Click OK.
Select File, and then click Save.
