Creating and Editing Linked Reports

適用於: System Center Operations Manager 2007

The following is the basic process for building a linked report by using the Authoring console. This is the process that the walkthroughs in the later sections follow to create different kinds of linked reports.

  1. Identify the generic report

Linked reports are based on a generic report that retrieves the required information. The first step in creating a linked report is identifying the generic report that retrieves the required information and formats it most closely to your requirements. The list of generic reports is available in Generic Reports.

  2. Create the report

Once you know the generic report that the linked report will use, you can create the linked report in the Authoring console and provide additional information such as the name of the report and the target class.

  3. Get the report’s parameter block

You can get the parameter block for each type of report in the Generic Reports section of this guide. You can copy and paste this XML code into the linked report which will give the new report the same controls as the base report. When you identify which parameters will have defined values, you can remove the controls from the parameter block that should not be displayed.

  4. Determine the parameters that will have defined values

Most linked reports will provide a defined value for one or more parameters for which the report uses a control. Each parameter must be defined for the linked report and be given a value.

  5. Remove controls for defined parameters

Controls in the parameter block that are needed because they populate parameters that have been given a specific value should be removed from the linked report. This prevents the controls from being displayed when you run the report.
