Build Server Purposing
Build Server Purposing
This section presents instructions for installing and configuring Automated Deployment Services (ADS) services - the Controller Service, Network Boot Service, and Image Distribution Service - on a single server. Installing all of the ADS services on one server is the simplest and fastest way to install ADS and is often used when setting up a test environment. Using a single server also works well when you have a large amount of disc space for both storing images and storing the ADS database.
Procedures for installing and configuring ADS services on a single server begin in Prepare the ADS Server. Before you start, take time to review the following material:
System Requirements for Server Purposing
This section describes requirements for computers used in an ADS deployment based on the computer's role. Communication ports used between ADS components are also listed.
Checklist: Preinstallation Tasks for ADS Deployments
This checklist lists the tasks you should complete prior to deploying ADS in a test environment.
Installing ADS on Multiple Servers
To learn about installing ADS Services on multiple servers, see the Installing Automated Deployment Services section of the ADS product documentation. Installing each of the ADS services on separate servers enables ADS to better load-balance, which improves the performance of ADS.
