This topic describes the Edge Server deployment process, including the permissions required in each step of deployment and the documentation you can use during deployment.

Before you deploy Edge Server, you need to verify that your system infrastructure and the server on which you will install Edge Server meet the requirements that are described in Step 3. Identify the Technical Requirements for Deploying External User Access. For more tips to help you during the Edge Server deployment process, see Edge Server Deployment Guidelines

When the environment is ready, you set up the infrastructure for Edge Servers, install the Edge Servers, activate and configure the Edge Servers, set up certificates on the servers, and start the services. Table 1 provides an overview of the required steps. Deploying Edge Servers for External User Access provides detailed instructions.

Configure the environment.

  1. Configure federation.
  2. Configure settings for anonymous users.
  3. Configure users for federation, public IM connectivity, and remote user access.
  4. Connect your internal servers with your Edge Servers.

Configure the Environment

Validate your edge configuration.

  1. Validate the Edge Server configuration.
  2. Validate that the internal servers can connect to the Edge Servers.
