ForceStartMenuLogOff

Description

Adds the Log Off user name item to the Start menu, and prevents users from removing it.

Also, while this policy is in effect, the system ignores the setting in the Display Logoff check box in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box. As a result, users cannot remove the Log Off user name item while this policy is in effect.

This entry stores the setting of the Add Logoff to the Start Menu Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value

Meaning

0 (or not in the registry)

The policy is disabled or not configured. Users can use the Display Logoff item to add and remove the Log Off user name item.

1

The Log Off user name item appears in the Start menu, and users cannot remove it.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Add Logoff to the Start Menu Group Policy (User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar).

Note Image Note

The Disable Logoff on the Start Menu policy takes precedence over the Add Logoff to the Start Menu policy. That is, when the value of StartMenuLogoff is 1, the system removes Logoff user name from the Start menu and ignores the ForceStartMenuLogoff entry.

Tip Image Tip

To add or remove Log Off user name, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar & Start Menu. Click the Advanced tab and, in the Start Menu Settings box, select the Display Logoff check box.
