Class-ID

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Group Policy

Description

The Group Policy subkey contains a subkey representing each of the client-side extensions used to create settings in Group Policy. These Class-ID subkeys are named for the class-ID of the extension, and they store entries that apply only to Group Policies that use that client-side extension.

These subkeys store the settings of the policy-processing policies in the Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy folder in Group Policy.

The following table shows the Class-ID subkeys and the corresponding client-side extension:

Note Image Note

The Class-ID subkey is a variable representing the subkeys under the Group Policy subkey. It does not actually appear in the registry. This variable subkey displays information that is common to the subkeys in the Group Policy subkey.

Some policies do not support the features that can be configured by entries in a Class-ID subkey. For a list of client-side extensions that support each entry, see the entry description.
