Add an Allow Authorization Rule

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista

Create an allow rule when you want to authorize access through FTP to Web content for specific roles, groups, or users.

To add an allow authorization rule

  1. Open IIS Manager.

  2. In Features View, double-click FTP Authorization Rules.

  3. On the FTP Authorization Rules page, click Add allow rule in the Actions pane.

  4. In the Add Allow Authorization Rule dialog box, select one of the following types of access:

    • All Users: specifies that all users, whether they are anonymous or identified, can access the content.

    • All Anonymous Users: specifies that anonymous users can access the content.

    • Specified roles or user groups: specifies that only members of certain roles or user groups can access the content. Type the role or user group in the box.

    • Specified users: specifies that only certain users can access the content. Type the user ID in the box.

  5. Under Permissions, you can use either or both of the following methods:

    • Select Read to enable read access to the directory.

    • Select Write to enable write access to the directory.
