Catalog Adapter

The catalog adapter allows BizTalk Server to automatically import a catalog that has been exported by another site. The publisher sends the catalog file to a specific folder on the receiving site and the adapter imports it into the receiving site.

Business Desk and the CatalogManager APIs support the ability to export XML-Data Reduced (XDR) data that is compliant with BizTalk Server for mapping.

The International Retail Site also provides a catalog Application Integration Component (AIC) that wraps the APIs for getting the catalog document into and out of BizTalk Server.

  • Some catalogs may be very large so it is assumed that message queuing is not used in this process.
