Adding or Removing Features

Use the following procedure to add or remove features in an existing Microsoft Speech Server (MSS) installation.

Important  It is strongly recommended that the procedures in Shutting Down or Starting Speech Server are followed before modifying the MSS installation.

  1. Click Start.

  2. Click Control Panel.

  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.

  4. Locate Microsoft Speech Server 2004 and click Change.

  5. On the Setup wizard's Program Maintenance page, select Modify and then click Next.

  6. On the Custom Setup page, select a feature to add to the installation, or deselect a currently installed feature to remove it.

  7. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions in the wizard.

Remarks

Modifying MSS temporarily interrupts the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service.

Some feature combinations may be enforced or restricted during modification. The MSS Setup wizard will not continue the modification until the appropriate conditions are met. For more information, see Running Speech Server Setup.
