Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open a Control Panel item, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click the appropriate icon.

  • In the Windows Server 2003 family, only Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, supports infrared networking.

  • The Wireless Link icon appears in Control Panel only if an infrared device is already installed on your computer.

  • If the Notify me when receiving files check box is selected, the Wireless Link status dialog box appears when files are being received. The status dialog box indicates that files are being received and shows the name of the computer that is sending the files.
