Applies To: Operations Manager 2007

The following table describes issues that can occur with the Terminal Services Management Pack and presents possible solutions. For more information about solving a problem with the management pack, see the product release notes. You can also search for the term "Terminal Services Management Pack" on the https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=29499 site.

Problem Solution

The management pack discovered no objects.

Make sure your Terminal Servers are using application mode, not Remote Admin mode.

Discovery of servers running Remote Admin or Remote Desktop is disabled by default. For instructions about how to set the management pack to discover servers running Remote Admin or Remote Desktop, see Enable Discovery of Remote Admin.

Most performance views are empty.

Install the Windows Server Operating System Management Pack.

The Windows Server Operating System Management Pack is required for all the performance views except Session Statistics.

You can download the Windows Server Operating System Management Pack from https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=82105.

The management pack did not discover a Session Directory in a cluster.

Turn on the object discovery that finds a Session Directory in a cluster. For instructions, seeEnable Discovery of a Session Directory in a Cluster.

The management pack is not collecting much performance data.

Enable the performance-measuring rules that you want. For instructions, see Turn On Rules to Collect Performance Data.

The management pack does not generate an alert when a Terminal Server fails to print on a local printer.

Turn on the rule that alerts you about a failed printer redirection operation. For instructions, see Enable an Alert for a Failed Printer Redirection Operation.

TS Web Access servers appear as not monitored.

There are no monitors created for the TS Web Access servers, so the icon for TS Web Access will appear as an empty green circle, indicating there is no monitoring state.  However, instances of TS Web Access are discovered correctly, and rules in the management pack will raise alerts concerning several issues in the management pack.  These instances can be used to create custom monitors, rules, and other monitoring scenarios.
