Supplier Site

The Supplier site represents a configuration of the Solution Sites common code base that is intended for you to use as the starting point for developing a site that allows contractual purchasing. The business model for this site is a business that is offering its products to an established set of other business, the latter of which have authorized certain employees to be able to make purchases. In fact, there is a feature, known as Partner Services, through which the administration of the list of authorized employees is delegated to the purchasing companies themselves.

Also note that the Product Catalog System in Commerce Server, using custom catalogs and catalog sets, allows the supplier business to offer custom pricing to different purchasing businesses.

The Supplier site differs from the Retail site in the following respects:

  • Partner Services is enabled in the Supplier site, as specified by a setting of one (1) for the i_DelegatedAdminOptions property of App Default Config.
  • Logging in is required in the Supplier site, and authentication is provided through Internet Information Services (IIS) using Basic or Integrated Windows authentication, as specified by a setting of seven (7) for the i_FormLoginOptions property of App Default Config.
  • Both credit cards and purchase order billing are allowed as payment options in the Supplier site, as specified by a setting of five (5) for the i_PaymentOptions property of App Default Config.
  • Self-registration is not allowed in the Supplier site, as specified by a setting of zero (0) for the i_SiteRegistrationOptions property of App Default Config.
  • In the Supplier site, user profile information is stored in Active Directory, as specified directly in the Profiling System.
