Supported data sources

MapPoint supports several data sources that you can use for importing or linking data. You can import data from any of the following sources:

  • GPS navigation device files (*.gpx format)

  • Microsoft Office Access (*.accdb, *.mdb, *.mdw or *.mda format)

  • Microsoft Office Excel (*.xls, *.xlsx or *.xlt format)

  • Microsoft Office Outlook Contacts

  • Another database, by using a Microsoft Data Link (*.udl format)

  • Plain-text files (*.txt, *.csv, *.asc, or *.tab format) for programs not supported by MapPoint

Tip   If you are using a database or program not listed here, you may be able to convert your data to one of these formats. See your program's documentation for details.

Note

  • Do not use Office Excel to create a text file (.txt) for import into MapPoint. Files created with Office Excel for import into MapPoint must be in *.xls, *.xlsx, or *.xlt format.
