Disk usage
The disk usage of specific content is exposed both on the device and through the desktop companion tool.
Reserving space
There is currently no mechanism for applications to reserve storage space for their own particular needs. This requires applications to become more robust when handling disk space errors. As a workaround, applications can create “reserve files” on their own and consume these files when the storage becomes full.
Moving content
There is currently no method to move files between an SD card and the internal storage.
Temporary file cleanup notifications
OEMs can receive notifications when the user chooses to delete temporary files in the storage sense settings panel. This is useful for OEMs who want to do their own temporary file cleanup work in addition to the file cleanup performed by the OS. For more information, see Storage cleanup notification API reference.
