Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 支援電腦型及裝置型用戶端。個別使用者可使用的功能取決於已部署的伺服器角色、系統管理員對其使用者帳戶的設定，以及使用者電腦所執行的用戶端和/或作業系統。

需要 Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1 和更新版本) Unified Messaging 才能整合 Office Communications Server 2007 R2 與 Exchange Server 的語音和電子郵件功能。

Microsoft Office Communicator

使用 Office Communicator 2007 R2 的使用者不得隸屬於 Office Communications Server 2007、Live Communications Server 2005 SP1 Enterprise Pool 或 Standard Edition Server。

遠端桌面支援

只有用於 IM 和顯示狀態時，Office Communicator 2007 和 Office Communicator 2007 R2 才會支援遠端桌面服務 (前身為終端機服務) 和 Citrix Metaframe。

Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access 用戶端

已部署 Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access (2007 R2 版) 時，使用者可透過 Web 瀏覽器存取 Communications Server 2007 R2 的顯示狀態、IM 和會議等功能，而不需要安裝桌面用戶端或透過 VPN 連線。
