Event Review: Moving to the Managed Desktop Environment, Part 1 (Session ITPROHOT-13)

Welcome to the material supporting page for this session. The materials on this page have been selected as the best matches to the content covered in the live event session.

Session Outline

Having solved several identity and access issues earlier in the series, this webcast focuses on a scenario in which multiple hardware configurations exist. These heterogeneous systems are having an adverse effect on costs, productivity, and security at our fictional company, Contoso. To address these issues, the company's IT group has defined standard desktop images with standard applications for deployment to all hardware configurations across the organization. Learn how the company accomplishes these goals by using the Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) to establish a single, standardized deployment environment, and by using Remote Installation Services (RIS) create a standard desktop. We then show how to inventory the environment with Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), and how to design a patch management solution that utilizes SMS technology.
