Note Image Note

This entry affects only background updates, which occur periodically while a user is logged on. It does not affect the updates that are always performed when you restart the system or when a user logs on.

This entry takes precedence over customized settings specified in the installation script for a policy.

This entry is not supported by the Software Installation or Folder Redirection client-side extensions. Therefore, this entry is ignored if it appears in the {25537BA6-77A8-11D2-9B6C-0000F8080861} (Folder Redirection) or {C6DC5466-785A-11D2-84D0-00C04FB169f7} (Software installation) subkeys.

Background updates can disrupt the user by changing the appearance of the user's desktop.
