Work with the Legend and Overview pane

Use the map legend

Map legend

The legend explains map features, which vary depending on the map style, whether your map includes mapped data, and how far you are zoomed in. Map features are organized in sections and may include such sections as:

Boundaries

Mapped data (for example, Pushpins, demographic data, and imported or linked data)

Populated places

Transportation

Miscellaneous (for example, bodies of water, landforms, and so on)

In the illustration above, Boundaries, Transportation, Parks and Reserves, and Miscellaneous are headings for three different legend sections.
