Step 4: Running the CSF Headlines Sample

To run the CSF Headlines sample, complete the following procedure. The CSF Headlines sample must be installed, and both SQL Server and the Content Selection Framework (CSF) components must be prepared before performing this procedure.

To run the CSF Headlines sample

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.

  2. In the Address box, type http://<server name>/csfheadlines/default.asp, and then press ENTER.

The CSF Headlines Web page appears.

The targeted headlines appear on the page, as well as debugging and tracing information about the data processed in the pipeline and the data stored in the cache. Click the Refresh button on your browser to see the changing headlines.

You can try changing the headline dates and priorities in the headline table in Microsoft SQL Server and watch the effect on the headline scores. While no Commerce Server Business Desk module is provided for managing headlines, you can create advertisements and then convert them to headlines by adding corresponding records to the Headline table and changing the Guid_campitem_type column in the Campaign_item table to match the globally unique identifier (GUID) for headline type content (retrieve this GUID from the Campitem_types table).
