Lab 1: Building Your Catalog

Estimated Time to Complete: 60 minutes

Scenario: Because you ship to both the United States and Europe, you need to create shipping methods for two locales. You need to import your existing Adventure Works catalog as well as create a new camping maps catalog. Your company has a new books department that contains camping and survival books, maps, and other resource information on camping. Your customers also need to be able to perform searches within both catalogs.

In this lab, you will:

• Add shipping methods and tax rates
• Create your new books catalog and populate the catalog with products
• Import your existing catalog (AdvWrksCatalog.xml)
• Create a virtual catalog that contains both your new catalog and the Adventure Works catalog
• Target products to users
• Add site terms and new users

In subsequent labs, you will create ad campaigns to promote sales within your camping catalogs, and then run reports to verify an increase in sales and the effectiveness of your ad campaigns.

Each of the lessons listed below is a prerequisite for the subsequent lesson. It is important to complete each lesson in the order listed.
